EVIL GENIUS 1984-1985 Matt McCourt begins life after Wild Dogs

EVIL GENIUS officially began the night i learned i was being replaced as leader and singer of Wild Dogs with no advance notice from my Wld Dogs ASSociates. For the 5 months leading up to this I kept on bookng shows and doing the publicity while writing songs for the upcoming record due in the near future. They also planned on finding a new record label, there was no mention to me.

in my opinnion the others were preoccupied with the local shows and the girls hangin out at the so called "rehearsals" to get any new material done. I contacted my friend Kip Doran and asked him to help me demo some songs i could take to the band in finished form to expedite the writing process gne were the days of spending a week hashing out which bridge works best as we did with Pete Holmes and Jaime St James( yes i diverge with tales of the Wild Dogs but stick with me it does make sense in the end)

My loyalty is a Scorpio trait i cannot deny. since Mike Varney had taken a shot with our unknown entity and was one of two honest indie guys( the other Being Brian Slagel from Metalblade) i was gonna "Stick to my Guns" and planned on releasing with him and as it turned out it worked Better than i had ever imagined.( same year 1986 i appaeared on Mayhem: Burned Alive and Dr Mastermnd and i got deen moed ot of oregon to soemplace where people would be able to make someting of his immense talent

EVIL GENIUS The group that kicked off a whole new era for me we lived in a band house, not something i ever did before or since! ( i confess i am not the best roomate even my own self gets on my nerves lol ands it was finally a bunch of friends making music and having fun and making fun of what got me replaced in the Wild Dogs. Heavy metal is great to make fun of as i do in my comedy shows and once again rehection came after sending the recordings around to a number of record people including Mikle Varney who contacted me and liked the material but wanted to put together a record that was bigger than my scope of comprehension at the time, PLUS these were my bandmates and i know let down and rejection and didnt want to pass it on to my borthers in arms. but that took care of itself and the group broke up it was not a year we were together but it was very productive and played loud every ay as the living room was our rehearsal space

it was a lark at first wearng the same Elvira wigs even my future ex wife looked like Her too!, but it ran the course and like i said im not a good roomate and it was you dont have to go home but it isnt here anymore so we moved tot he ghetto aprtments we saw as we drove to our gas station job and were hired as the manager of this place called the Villa La Paz owned by this rich guy up on the hill and bought with cocaine money i discovered later his buddies had a smuglling ring goin on but like i say in the video more on that story in the next chapters Mayhem and Dr Mastermnd life it is a series of doors... opening and closing my test t is to make sure my tail doesn't get slammed

Evil Genius i wrote the songs these guys helpoed me a lot thanx to Kip Doran unfortunately 2 of thebandmates are no longer living Chris Jacobsen got cancer as did drummer Ben Linton whose band Chemical rage was just hitting take off speed may you Rest in peace ...

As they say "ONE DOOR CLOSES AND ANOTHER OPENS" and this is a perfect example

Unfortunately with all the shows we did, i have a limited collection of photos and video was not common as it is today BUT the music is strong and pure as it was with the first Wild Dogs sessions,

Kip was always the Hotshot guitarist of my area and his Shenker style puts a great seasoning on these tunes influenced by Alice Cooper Scorpions, UFO, Judas Priest

the recordgs were made at the same studio as wild dogs'firs17 songs with Bob Stoutenburg as Engineer/co producer those songs are available on the dr Mastermind Before and After cD ou can see the ebay link below
