1980- matchbox records andy mckaie producer recoirded in portland
oregon. also has jay reynolds of malice on 2nd gtr. this record
got rave reviews from cash box and billboard(prbably friends of
aandy's but who cares) first indie label we knew of that was nationally
distributed and not owned by a major. later when the band fell
apart the replacements were Pete holmes(black n Blue) mick zane
(malice) jeff mark (wild dogs) whom i started a great songwriting
career with for the next 20 years or so the music was metal mixed
with the frenzied punk of new wave mat got heavier in the next
few years again and you can read lose 20lbs on the wild dogs 1
album as written by mike varney... included the cover song the
twist a version of little honda was recorded but unreleased and
floating somewhere ...on keyboards is alf ryder one of teh firast
synth players who needed no band and norman atkins whose familtyu
was made famous when his nother became Dr. Kevorkian's first patient
to end her life by choice starnge but true as is my life------

prior to my discovery of a 16 year old drummer who gave billy
cobham a run for the border- after a demo was sent to mik evarney
the band appeared onm the usmetal vol 2 compilation and we were
up and running -without a permanent drummer i might add- bryce
van paten now odf jester's moon was our bet bet then we found
deen playing to 6 people in a small nightclub in portland oregon
his drums were so many and large thatthe other band memebers
were reduced to perfoming on the dance floor

BEST FRIEND /1984produced by mike varney this wa sthe attempt
to get the band signed to a major label deal as varney had been
doing with groups such as icon and wasp the wild dogs sound didnt
coton to any one flavor of the moment and in an attempt to become
more commercial the band lost a bit of its ingenuity and indepence
the album still remains a favorite among the metalheads of the
80's and the new fans under 18 who are discovering it for the
first time lkaden with def leppard sounding background vocals
it was a good mix of hard edged metal(believe in me stcik to
your guns and livin on th estreet and ac/dc power metal the cover
was a great shoot with real killer dogs who were really hungry..
